- Anna registers contractors and requires a permit for a remodel. According to the City of Anna Building Department, "Yes, a permit is required."
Search "remodeling services anna tx" and you get a wall of directory listings and companies that cover Anna from thirty miles out. Neither tells you who can take on your kitchen in March. Alanis Remodeling & Construction is a family-owned company based here in Anna, working across Collin County since 1999. Here is what work is available locally, and how to tell which companies are really local.
What remodeling services can you get done in Anna, TX?
More than kitchens and bathrooms, though those are what most people call about. Our services page sorts the work into five main projects:
- Kitchen renovations. Cabinets, counters, tile, lighting, layout changes, and the plumbing and electrical behind them.
- Bathroom renovations. Showers, tubs, vanities, tile and fixtures, including moving where the water goes.
- Home additions. New square footage, which means foundation, framing, roof and a tie-in to the existing house.
- Complete home renovation. Whole-house work, usually an older home or a flip.
- New home construction. Ground up, on your lot.
Around those we also do painting, flooring, siding, roofing, concrete work including driveways and foundations, wood framing, outdoor living and outdoor kitchens, pressure washing, and demolition and hauling. A kitchen that turns out to need a framing change stops being a scheduling problem when one crew covers both.

Is the company you found actually based in Anna?
Often no. Results for Anna remodeling are full of service-area pages: a company headquartered in Dallas or Frisco publishes a page about Anna to rank in local searches. The work can still be good, but the crew is not down the road. Three things to check, and they take about a minute:
| What to check | A service-area page | A company based here |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Lists twenty cities in a row | Names the one city it works out of |
| City rules | A generic line about permits | Mentions Anna's permit process and contractor registration |
| Recent work | Years of experience, somewhere | Can tell you how many Anna jobs it has done this year |
We work out of Anna and, per our services page, cover the DFW Metroplex and 50 miles beyond from here. Anna is also growing fast enough that many of the people asking this question are new to town and have no contractor yet. The city puts it this way:
"Anna's current population is just over 28,000 and was recently named the fourth fastest growing city in the nation!" City of Anna
Does a remodeling contractor have to be registered with the City of Anna?
Anna runs a contractor registration program and ties registration to permits. Ask any company you are considering whether they are registered with the city, and whether they or you are expected to pull the permit.
According to the city's Building Department FAQ, on a new commercial permit application, "Please note all Contractors will need to be registered before the permit is released." The same page answers the remodel question with a flat yes. Anna's contractor registration application asks for liability insurance with the City of Anna listed as the certificate holder, a driver's license, and a trade license where one applies. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors register on their own forms.
A company that cannot answer the registration question quickly probably does not work here much, and a registered contractor has had to show the city proof of liability insurance, which is one more thing than the contractor's word. We go deeper on the paperwork in our post on whether you need a permit for a kitchen remodel in Anna.
Which nearby cities do Anna remodeling companies cover?
Usually a corridor, not a circle, because the drive has to stay short enough to keep a crew on site all day. Our service areas page runs from Collin County up the Grayson County corridor: Anna, Van Alstyne, Howe, Sherman, Denison, Celina, McKinney, Allen, Plano, Frisco, Richardson, Garland, Dallas, Rockwall, Royse City, Aubrey, Pilot Point and Denton, among others. If your address is not on the list, call and ask.
Permit rules change at the city line. Anna and McKinney answer the kitchen permit question differently, so we look up the rules for your address during the estimate instead of guessing from the county.
What should you ask before you pick one?
Four questions sort companies faster than any star rating, and they are fair to ask anyone, us included:
- Is the quote a written number, and does it list what is included?
- Are start and completion dates in the proposal?
- Are you registered with the City of Anna, and will you pull the permit?
- Who is my day to day contact once work starts?
Our own answer to the first one is on the homepage: upfront costs in writing, no hidden fees, and "The number we quote is the number you plan around."
